And shockingly for a fantasy and sci-fi site, I don't think you'll find your tastes are that exclusive, either. ;) I've never watched any of these shows daily, or even weekly. But I still remember them, and some of the characters. Hadji was the obligatory ethnic minority character in JQ.

Personally I didn't 'wander' into fantasy and Sci-fi. By that time I'd already got the area mapped out and documented. ;)

I discovered Anne McCaffery's "The Dragonriders of Pern" series by accident. I don't think adult sci-fi/fantasy novels are normally on the bookshelf in a seventh grade English teacher's classroom. I noticed it because there was a dragon on the cover. Lucky for me it was "Dragon Flight", the first book.
